PUBLISHED THE EUROPEAN REGULATION SUSPENDING SPECIFIC GSP TARIFF PREFERENCES

The European Union has published the Regulation* suspending GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) tariff preferences in respect of Countries and products as table below. The duty will apply from 1 January 2014 until 31 December 2016. During that period, imports in the EU will pay the MFN (Most Favoured Nation) duty nevertheless the presentation of a FORM A certificate.
The measure is due to a “safeguard mechanism” of GSP system: the tariff preferences shall be suspended, in respect of products of a GSP section originating in a GSP beneficiary country, when the average value of Union imports of such products over three consecutive years from that GSP beneficiary country exceeds the 17,5% (14,5% for textile products) calculated on the total value of Union imports of the same products from all GSP beneficiary countries.

Press Release - February 15th 2013

New location for the Italian Import Division of D.B. Group

To cultivate the excellence at our head office to transfer quality and Italian know-how to the branches located all over the globe, but also to introduce in Montebelluna the cultural grandeur of the different territories.  The “incubator” project launched by D.B. Group, of the De Bortoli brothers, is moving ahead with a concentration in the general headquarter of the import division, customs operations included, made up of 39 people, up to now relocated in Mogliano Veneto. “All the personnel of the Mogliano Veneto branch will be transferred in the coming months to Montebelluna,” said Silvia Moretto, Chief Executive Officer at D.B. Group Spa, “side by side with the export division and with the main functions. In fact, in the head office we are concentrating all the production chains in order to rapidly and superlatively match and surpass our competitors. We have expanded our presence abroad in the main economic growth areas, particularly Latin America and the Arab Emirates. That thrust has not slowed down yet because we have also chosen to develop ourselves in other directions. But the project in Montebelluna will be successful if we can create a critical mass of high-level professionals, to maximize the potential of the human capital we have in our company. Some additional sacrifices will be asked to our collaborators who will move from the Mogliano branch to Montebelluna, but they understand that this is the best way for us to face the rigours of the workplace, there will be more and better exchanges between import and export divisions, and it will establish greater paths to collaboration between employees.” The De Bortoli brothers' company has branches and offices in every part of the world. The head office in Montebelluna is the incubator of innovation and best practices to implement abroad in order to take on new challenges – and opportunities – as they emerge in the midst of the global economic crisis. A long and complex operation. The head office will employ 150 people (of which 18 were hired in the last 12 months) bringing the total number of group workers to over 430
