Giorgia Giacobone

A career path taken up in 2015 with an internship, described from a colleague as “challenging but exciting”.

Giorgia Giacobone joined the Air Export Operations team of the headquarters in Montebelluna, the first stone to build her passion for shipping and logistics. Starting from there, a great experience made by challenges, sacrifices and satisfactions and now a new stop with D.B. Group in Chicago, where she landed thanks to the Global Talents programme.

THREE ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
Cheerful, stubborn and determined. Three precious characteristics in D.B. Group, above all in the relationships with clients and colleagues.

WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS?
Swimming, that I still practice, and dogs. I bring with me in USA my dogs, Booger and Lulù, that I rescued and are now part of the family.

THREE ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE D.B. GROUP?
Homelike, challenging, cross-cultural: a great daily opportunity.

WHAT IS YOUR JOB ALL ABOUT?
When I was in Italy, I specifically managed air export shipments along the Venice – New York route, a traffic handled by several people due to the high rate of freight concentration. In this context, coordination and cooperation within team members is fundamental to the success of the operations. In Chicago, I will focus on the air import operations, an opportunity to get in touch with the opposite part of the air freight service and have a 360° vision on the subject.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO APPLY TO THE GLOBAL TALENT PROGRAMME?
As I came back from London my idea was that of settling down in Italy; I liked my job and my team. However, when I first read the programme I immediately saw it as a chance of growth that, by forcing me out of my comfort zone, could give me the opportunity to develop new expertise. A further improvement for my career and a step forward in D.B. Group.

WHICH ARE THE REASONS THAT BROUGHT YOU TO MOVE ABROAD?
I like to embrace new challenges: what keeps me alive is the possibility to start a brand-new life. I am lucky enough to share the same vision with my husband, who immediately packed and moved to Chicago with me.

THREE THINGS OF D.B. ITALY YOU WILL CARRY TO D.B. AMERICA:

Training: during the last three years I have learnt how to take care of customers and shipments. To work inside the Group head office, being in contact with the values of the firm spread by the constant presence of its founders is an incentive to endlessly improve yourself.
Friendship: my colleagues have made me feel part of the family.
Christmas Dinner Pictures: I take my colleagues with me in my new office.
