We inform you that the shipping peak season is currently shaping, due to both by a slight increase in demand and a major reduction in space availability, and it is impacting on both air and ocean services.
OCEAN FREIGHT
The cost of both import and export operations is increasing due to the decrease in the holding ability of vessels. This situation is mainly caused by the large number of blank sailings, which are consequently bringing pressure to load activity. We are also recording a shortage of equipment in some Asian ports (mainly 40’ and 40’HC containers).
AIR FREIGHT
Air import is suffering from lower space availability due to the reduction of both cargo and passengers’ flights. Consequently, the cost of the service is rising. This trend might continue through the half of October. Concerning export operations, companies are increasing the number of flights from Italy to the USA to face the well-known demand peak linked to the Thanks Giving. Shipments to China are not impacted by difficulties in space procurement.

Chinese Golden Week
Golden Week is a 8-day long national holiday in China, starting on October 1 with the celebration of China National Day. During this week (1-8 October) companies and factories will be closed.
Consequently, our branch offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Qingdao, and Chengdu won’t be operational and will resume normal activity on October 9. Hong Kong branch, instead, will be closed only on the 1st and 2nd of October. Please take note that during the period that precedes this holiday, demand for imports from China will intensify. This can further increase the possibility of inconveniences.

To reduce the risks of delays and missed pick-ups, we kindly ask our customers to book their shipments in advance, scheduling their activities as soon as possible, and communicating any special request during the booking activity.
